My Best Shot: ‘Mum and Dad’

p&g

I think I have responded to the work of other photographers by recreating the an old photo of the same people.

My composition includes two people the photos have slightly different backgrounds as that could not be recreated exactly the subject matter is the two people and how they have changed.

My viewpoint is taken from eye level and is straight on. I think that the perspective makes my viewer feel like they were their when the shot was taken as in the first one like as atmosphere can be felt during the photo and the recreation.

The focal point in my photograph is the two people the rule of thirds is not used in this photo as it is just a centre photo.

The lighting used is artificial light mixed with daylight and casts a light shadow on the wall which creates more depth in the photograph

Curved lines are used in the photo, this is showing the shapes of the people. My Colour and Tonal Scheme is whites, blacks and pinks, they all complement each other, this makes the photo more eye catching.

I wanted to create a story behind my piece, of what people look like after time has past and to allow people to see what things use to be like.

I wanted to create a feeling of memories and showing happy times and showing that they are still happy.

My Best Shot: “Ruby”

I think I have responded to the work of other photographers by working in their style by showing the person and then showing their possessions underneath them bring out their personality.

My composition includes a picture of me on a background that represents my personality, I am in black and white making me stand out more from the coloured background and on the photograph underneath is of my personal possessions and things that represent me as an individual and some of my everyday items.

My viewpoint is taken from was eye level and is straight on this has the effect that the person is looking right at you, I think that the perspective makes my viewer feel as though the subject is involving them in the photograph and wants to show them their personal possessions.

The focal point in my photograph is the person and they style in which they are presented is showing what kind of person they are using emotions such as happiness, rule of thirds is not applied in these images.

My lighting shows that the mood is a happy mood as it bright light and the light is artificial, a shadow is cast of the figure giving the photograph more points of interest.

My image shows straight line as all objects are in lines and are organised, I can also see Shapes, such as round objects and square objects, the effect this has on the layout is that it makes the eye wonder more and makes the photograph more interesting.  My Colour and Tonal Scheme is bold bright colours and then a black and white object is amongst this making the colours and the black and white pop more and creates a contrast

I wanted to  create a story behind my piece, of what possession people value and what possessions people need to carry all day everyday.

I wanted to create a feeling of getting to know the person.

Why i choose these images

I  selected these photographers because I think they show personal possessions in a unique way.

They link to my work and ideas because they show peoples personal possession arranged in certain ways to show the important things and how many things they own.

By looking at these photographers it makes me want to investigate arranging things neatly or arranging things messy so that they can be matched up to.

Who is Jason Travis

I  selected this artist because I admire  the way in which he matches items that represent the person in the picture above the possessions.

He lives in Atlanta.

The background behind his work is showing what possessions are most important to these people and what reflects them as a person

He inspires me to find out what items are most important to people around me, and to capture that.

                        My Thoughts on ‘Riff Raff’

The composition includes five men who appear to be on a tube in London, the photo has then been recreated on the picture on the right hand side showing the exact same thing with the same people.

The viewpoint is taken from of this is from eye level and is a straight on shot, which has the effect that you are their with them and are having that memory with them.

The perspective makes you feel like you can feel what they are feeling like they are on their way to a night out and are having a good time , the angle in which it is taken allows you to see the surroundings and the setting.

The focal point in the photograph is the man in the middle wearing a top hat as he is the one that everyone is looking at and is holding on to.

The lighting is dark as it appears that the tube is going through a dark tunnel, which gives both photos a vintage effect. You can see Lines in the tube, there are curved lines showing the shape of the tube and there are also straight lines of the poles.

Shapes, such as circles and curved windows , which make the people stand out more against them as it adds a frame effect.

The Color and Tonal Scheme is browns and blacks and creams, which add a warm effect, the are neutral colors which make the photo more inviting.

The story behind the piece could be a group of friends who are on their way out and pose for a photo as they are making their journey so that they can capture this moment and keep it forever.

It makes me think that this was quite an important and memorable moment for them to stop and take the picture .

It gives a feeling of happiness as most of them are smiling as though they are looking forward to where they are going or are just happy to be with their friends.
